Sunconnex Projects is developing and constructing solar PV projects in Europe, Asia and North America. Solar PV projects are extremely interesting investment objects for investors that are looking for a high return with a very low risk profile. The main reasons for this are explained below.

An increasing number of governments have introduced laws providing for so-called feed-in tariffs (FiT) that apply to the energy produced by renewable energy sources such as solar, hydro and bio-mass. This FiT tariff is higher than the market energy price and is ensured by the governments for a period that is in most cases 20 years.

In those countries where solar photovoltaic (PV) systems qualify for a FiT these solar projects are perceived by investors as very interesting investment objects because of the following factors:

• Technically solar PV systems are the least complex of all energy generation systems therefore the technical risks are very low
• The average solar irradiation is very well predictable over a 20-year period
• The degradation characteristics of PV systems are very predictable and incorporated in the investment models
• As a result of the above the annual energy production is very well predictable. Combined with a fixed and government guaranteed FiT the income stream for a PV system has a very low risk profile

Solar PV projects are usually financed though regular project finance with an 80% leverage.
